Women’s World Day of Prayer

6 March 2026
On Friday morning, 6 March 2026, women from churches in and around Queensburgh gathered at Flame Lily Church for the Women’s World Day of Prayer. This beautiful global movement unites Christian women across the world in worship and prayer each year.
The gathering was coordinated by our very own Wilma Zwikker from Christ Church Queensburgh, who brought together women from several local congregations for this special time of worship and fellowship. This year’s program was prepared by the Women’s World Day of Prayer Committee of Nigeria and centered on Jesus’ invitation in Matthew 11:28–30, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
The morning was lively, joyful and deeply meaningful. Ladies from Christ Church Queensburgh led the worship songs, including the beloved hymn Blessed Assurance, as voices lifted together in praise.
Moving and thought provoking case studies shared during the service highlighted the struggles many women in Nigeria face, including poverty and hardship. Hearing these real life stories reminded us of the resilience, faith and courage of our sisters in Christ and encouraged us to lift them up in prayer.
Wilma also led the Bible study on Matthew 11:28–30, reflecting on Christ’s compassionate invitation to bring every burden to Him. It was a powerful reminder that no matter how heavy life’s struggles may feel, Jesus calls us to come to Him and find rest for our souls.
Prayers were lifted for the people of Nigeria, for women and families across the world, for peace in troubled places and for the strengthening of faith in our own communities. An offering was also received as part of the global Women’s World Day of Prayer initiative, supporting ministries and outreach that serve women and communities in need around the world.
The morning ended with warm fellowship over tea, coffee and delicious cakes, giving everyone time to connect and share together. It truly was a wonderful way to spend a Friday morning, hearts encouraged and spirits uplifted.
May we continue to carry one another in prayer and remember that wherever we are in the world, we are sisters united in Christ.
